Update

Best way to update theme is to use plugin such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/. You can also manulay delete theme and upload new version. If you have made some changes in theme files you will have to manualy update to keep your changes.

Remember to always backup your data before update!

Airborn - Main settings

Layout width

Choose if you wish to use wide or narrow layout.

Customize Logo

Choose image or text logo. Text logo will be displayed with cufon(if enabled). You can use <strong> or <b> to get bold text.

Theme styles

You can easily use different theme css files. Just upload to root theme directory(/wp-content/themes/airborn/) CSS file named style-{ur-name}.css By default there is style-def.css(default css file) and dumb style-red-text.css (only for example).

Blog settings

Set welcome texts visible on all Blog posts and main blog page.

Sidebar settings

Choose default sidebar location

Contact form settings

Give e-mail address for contact page form.

Login form settings

Here you can enable login form on your page. If you activate this add in Menus custom link(Appearance->Menus->Custom Links) with url #LoginContent

Airborn - Colors

In each section(<body>, #header, #footer) you can set background colors and images. Additionaly in #header section you can set logo and main menu colors.

Airborn - Fonts

Here you can do 3 things:

  1. Enable / disable Cufon fonts
  2. Choose cufon font to use on page.
  3. See how will each font look.

Airborn - Homepage look

Here you set options of frontpage(the page displayed after opening root address of your page).

Homepage text part

You can enable or disable part of the homepage that is right below header area. This is place for some welcome messages or any other special content that is displayed only on homepage. Text displayed here is set in editor marked Homepage text. If you define slideshow in this area, you can also choose option to use only it on homepage.

Homepage mid part

Here you set what will be displayed in main secion of home page.You have four options here. First it is to switch it off. Second is to use latest posts from blog with sidebar. Third and fourth is somehow connected. If you activate Blog/Page option, then what you see on front page depends on settings in Settings->Reading->Front page displays.

Creating other page as Blog:
1. Create empty page that you wish to use as blog page
2. go to Settings->Reading->Front page displays
3. choose 'A static page (select below)'
4. In 'Posts page:' choose your empty page for blog.

Here you set content for two blocks in footer. Footer copyright block is block is last block in footer widget area. Footer most bottom block is most bottom tex in layout ;-) Because it is kind of confusing we have image below:

Airborn - Portfolio

You can choose from two portfolio layouts One is 1 item per row, and second is 3 items per row. Second option is to select view mode. It is usable if you specify categories for your portfolio items.

Dynamic mode loads all your items when portfolio is view and this allows to sort them by category without reload of page. Static mode don't load all items, but only items from selected category.

Important thing is setting portfolio page. It is main page for your portfolio. You have to specify that one to give access to your works.

Shortcodes

Below:

you will see shortcode editor. Use it to insert predefined elements for your content. To see available shortcodes in Airborn theme check http://themes.apollo13.eu/airborn/shortcodes/ and select shortcode category from submenu. One thing to keep in mind: Portfolio code is meant to use only with portfolio items.

Portfolio

To add portfolio to your blog first you need to create portfolio page:

  1. Add new page
  2. Name it as you wish but keep in mind that if you use nice addresses (eg. yourblog.com/about-me ) than slug of your page have to be portfolio , so everything will work correct.
  3. From template list choose Portfolio.
  4. Save Page.
  5. Go to Airborn->Portfolio and set you portfolio page.
  6. Done

Add new portfolio item

Adding new item in portfolio is same as adding new post with few bonus things.

Slideshow

Adding slideshow to your page/post is as simple as adding shortcode cause it is adding shortcode :-) To add Slideshow to your page/post:

  1. Edit your page / portfolio item / post / Homepage look
  2. From shortcodes select sliders
  3. From second shortcode menu select slider you wish to use
  4. Add images, descriptions, links, titles, customize height
  5. Add more items to your slideshow with Add more fields button
  6. Insert code into editor

Best place to add slideshows is bottom of your page/post entery. It wont affect excerpt of your post in search/archive view. If you like you can copy generated code to other page/post and it will work instantly.

Widgets

In Appearance->widgets menu you will see set of widgets made right for Ariborn theme. To use it just drag and drop them in Sidebar you will like to see them. Available sidebars:

Adding New Posts

Nothing new in here, but there is few more options:

Page Templates

We have few page templates. If you add new page, you can choose from this options:

Main Page Menu

If you go to Appearance->menus menu, you can prepare menu that will be used across your page. To use your menu as main Page menu, select it for location(see image).

Cufon fonts, custom background, demo data and images sizes

Cufon Fonts

If you like to add more cufon fonts to your theme upload them to /themes/airborn/common/fonts .

Custom backgrounds

Airborn gives you 5 different backgrounds that you can use in styling your theme. They are all located in themes/airborn/common/gfx/theme1/bgs

Demo data

We also provide sample data, if you like to see how it is all made from admin page. If you are confused about options in theme, we advise to use it only to see how things are made in Airborn. After that,  you should clean your Wordpress so you don't have any unwanted content ;-)

How to install sampel data:

Not all post/pages may work as on demo. It is caused by case that demo was specially modified to show all available configurations options.

Template image sizes

595x250px - portfolio 1 row version
595x183px - blog post thumb
280x180px - portfolio 1 row 3 prjects version
180x110px - “Latest from blog”
960x260 - default slideshow images

CSS Files and Structure

I'm using two CSS files in this theme. The first one is a generic reset file (reset-min.css). Many browser interpret the default behavior of html elements differently. By using a general reset CSS file, we can work round this. This file also contains some general styling, such as anchor tag colors, font-sizes, etc. Keep in mind, that these values might be overridden somewhere else in the file.

The second file contains all of the specific stylings for the page. The file is separated into sections using:

/* ---------- 0.BODY SETTINGS --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 1.LINKS, CLEAR AND PARAGRAPH --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 2.BODY MAIN STRUCTURE --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 3.HOME PAGE --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 4.BLOG MAIN --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 5.BLOG DETAIL --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 6.PORTFOLIO --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 7.FULL PAGE --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 8.ERROR + SITEMAP --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 9.CONTACT --------------------------------*/
some code
/* ---------- 10.FOOTER --------------------------------*/
some code
